This is the author’s first major work. The film was produced in 2010, before the era of the FilmFreeWay aggregator, which limited its festival circuit at the time. Nevertheless, the film was selected for the 9th “In The Palace” International Short Film Festival in Bulgaria—a prestigious festival with over 30 years of history—as well as the Kyiv International Film Festival. Out of 20 films in the Kyiv selection, only five were Ukrainian. However, the most meaningful recognition came from the young audience. After the screening, several viewers approached me to confirm if I was the director of “Axis” and said: “Thank you so much. Your film makes us feel proud of our country’s cinema.”The film was shot in Kharkiv, Crimea (Balaklava), and Rome. Interestingly, the communal apartment location used in the film is the very place where the author was born.
